I work with people who, when they think about their life, want things to be different. Parents want more enjoyable “family” time, husbands want better communication, teens “trying on” identities want authenticity. Instead irritations and misunderstandings interfere with solving problems and sabotage this legitimate wish to “make things better”.
Therapy is an intensive education in Who am I? What do I want? and How do I get it?
Therapy provides a safe space for inquiry into the Self, into understanding the role that emotions play in our lives and into the role the past plays in the present.
Therapy is a conversation. The ups and downs of life are explored and better understood. Then parents can be more effective, children more cooperative, and relationships more than a recycling of past hurts and disappointments.
